World of Warcraft and Counter-Strike are long-term favourites, continually taking the top two places in the charts year on year. It's
very noticeable how most of the time, new games take over from old, while these two seem immune from being replaced. Modern Warfare 2
is quickly taking over from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare; Left 4 Dead 2 is quickly taking over from Left 4 Dead. 2009 was the year of
the zombie, as Left 4 Dead and Killing Floor made waves, the latter entering the full-year chart at number 7.
At the same time, it's interesting to see how some games don't do as well as their earlier versions. Dawn of War 2 was eclipsed by
Soulstorm. Battlefield 2142 never did as well as Battlefield 2, though now Battlefield 3 is in the pipeline and is not expected to suffer
the same fate.
From World of Warcraft's new expansion, Cataclysm, to Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2, 2010 looks like being a year of sequels to some of the
biggest games in history.
